An ancient rural setting
Il Berneto was built entirely of local sandstone as a farmhouse on the ridge of a plateau, on the ruins of the ancient Castel Brandetto: the original walls of the castle, dating back to the 11th century, are still visible in the back of the house. The property has belonged to our family since 1800, and has been loved and passed down through four generations. Recently the villa was carefully renewed to offer comforts, while still preserving the character and warmth of a rustic countryside home in a rural setting. Timeless materials, generous spaces, and thoughtful details reflect the charm of Italian country living, creating an inviting atmosphere where comfort and authenticity coexist.
A farmhouse in transformation
Across generations the property has maintained and transformed its agricultural dimension. Until the last century, it was dedicated to fruit growing, livestock farming, and cereal cultivation. Today, it is primarily dedicated to the cultivation of nearly 1,000 olive trees, from which we still produce extra virgin olive oil every autumn for family and friends.
The farmhouse's architectural layout preserves the memory and, in some cases, the customs of this production tradition, as well as the capacity for many people and activities both inside and out.
A villa to stay and relax
The villa’s spacious layout ensures a relaxed and enjoyable stay, whether for a quiet retreat or a gathering of family and friends. Rich in character, Il Berneto offers the typical Umbrian ambience.
Indoor wood beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and cozy fireplaces.
The villa can host up to 20 people, with seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, two fully furnished kitchens and three spacious living rooms. In addition to the excellent thermal performance of historic masonry walls, the villa is equipped with air conditioning, heating. WiFi connection is provided. Outdoor an expansive grass field yard, the “Aia”, the shadow of different trees in the garden, in the olive grove or in the oak forest, a firewood oven available for baking and a seasonal vegetable garden.
The property includes a fully equipped private swimming pool, 14 m in length and different depths up to 2 m. Its discrete placement a few meters from the house, just out of sight and accessible by a small path, ensures privacy and comfort along with a west-facing view of the sunset over the medieval village of Monteleone d'Orvieto.
The farmhouse has plenty of outdoors space to enjoy the birds singing, the breeze and to wander between olive yards and hilly paths.
